Festa degli Schietti – Terrasini

Il giorno di pasqua a Terrasini ricorre un’antica tradizione, ” La Festa di li Schietti”, le prime testimonianze della Festa di li Schietti risalgono intorno al 1850-1860. Composta da un comitato di scapoli che si cementano nell’alzata di un melangolo (Arancio Amaro) di circa 50 kg.

La Festa inizia il sabato mattina con il rituale taglio dell’albero, nell’occasione in aperta campagna si svolge una degustazione (la cosiddetta “manciata”) con prodotti tipici locali (formaggio, olive, vino, pesce”sarde” carne di montone “Crasto” arance ecc;. Nel pomeriggio l’albero, addobbato con nastrini colorati e “ciancianeddi”, viene portato su un Carretto Siciliano e condotto in giro per le vie del paese accompagnato da gruppi Folkloristici e dalla banda musicale del paese. La domenica mattina, subito dopo la S. Messa, l’albero viene benedetto dall’arciprete della Chiesa Madre, “Maria SS. delle Grazie” la festa continua per tutta la mattinata in giro per le vie del paese e gli schietti, portano l’albero sotto il balcone della “Zita” (fidanzata) le danno una dimostrazione della loro forza. Nel Pomeriggio gli schietti si cimentano in una gara di resistenza in Piazza Duomo, alla fine verranno premiati i primi tre che hanno totalizzato più secondi. La festa si conclude con uno spettacolo, sempre in Piazza Duomo, e i giochi pirotecnici al lungomare.
